Presentation of articles
TEXTS:
Texts must be supplied in Word format in Times New Roman (or Arial), 12 point font size, with page numbering.
A few simple rules to adhere to:
- Avoid paragraphs which are too short with multiple returns.
- Acronyms and abbreviations should be written in capitals without full stops.
- Words in foreign languages (Latin, Greek, English) should be written in italics.
- The names of equipment and the trade names of drugs should be written with the first letter of the word capitalised. International non-proprietary names (INN) should all be written in lower case.
- The number of pages is left to the discretion of the authors. However, it would not be desirable for them to exceed a maximum of 15-20 pages.
- The title, the first names and surnames of the authors, the abstract, the illustrations (figures, tables, diagrams, etc.) should appear on separate sheets. In order to be able to send the finalised layout of the article for any corrections and validation, it is necessary to specify the surname and e-mail address of the contact person.
- Acronyms and abbreviations should be explained the first time they appear in the text.
- Units and symbols should preferably be written according to the international system of units (SI).
TITLES:
- The title should be attractive and as brief and concise as possible. It should be presented with the surnames of the authors preceded by the initial of their first names, the name of the laboratory or laboratories or department(s) where the publication comes from and their precise address. If several authors are involved, asterixes should be used to refer to the various addresses.
- Authors should provide a maximum of 5 key words and, if the text is more than about ten pages, a 10-15 line abstract.
ILLUSTRATIONS:
- These should be balanced in terms of the text supplied (for example, 5 pages: 1 to 2 illustrations maximum (tables and figures), 10 pages: 3 to 4 illustrations, and 20 pages: 5 to 7 illustrations). They should be supplied digitally in Photoshop or Illustrator (saved as an EPS, TIFF or JPEG), in high definition (300 dpi).
- Figures should be numbered in Arabic numerals (figure 2) and tables in Roman numerals (table II). They must be captioned. Captions for illustrations must be written on a separate sheet.
- Authors should request permission to reproduce illustrations from prior publications from the publisher and the authors.
- Authors should request permission to reproduce figures, tables and other documents taken from websites from these sites.
BIBLIOGRAPHIC REFERENCES:
These should be numbered in Arabic numerals (1), listed alphabetically and cited in the text by the number or by the name of an author, followed by the number which refers to the bibliographic reference. They should be presented in accordance with the following standards:
- Article: surnames of the authors, followed by the initials of the first names, title of the article in the original language, international abbreviation for the name of the review, year of publication, volume, first and last pages.
- Work: surnames of the authors, followed by the initials of the first names, title of the work in the original language, town where the publishing house is located, name of the publisher, year of publication, page.
Workings of the review
Authors undertake to submit for publication in Feuillets de Biologie a text which has never previously been published and which has not been submitted to another review or journal at the same time.
Each article is sent to two readers chosen from among the members of the editorial committee, or outside of it if the subject matter requires. Depending on their comments, the editorial committee may ask the first author to make changes to the form or content of the text.
10 offprints will be sent to him free of charge following publication. All co-authors will receive a free copy of the review in which the article appeared.
Each article will be paid for based on a fixed tariff determined annually by the editorial committee.
